TikTok Shop fees in the UK: what you actually pay

In short
TikTok Shop charges UK sellers a 9% commission, including VAT, on the sale price plus any shipping the customer pays. Sellers who post orders themselves also pay 50p per package, and creator affiliate commission comes on top at a rate you choose. There is no listing fee, monthly subscription or payout fee. For a VAT-registered seller, the VAT inside the commission is reclaimable, so the real commission cost is 7.5%.

TikTok Shop fees look simple: one commission rate and no monthly subscription. In practice, what reaches your bank also depends on shipping, who fulfils the order, creator commission and VAT. This guide sets out every fee a UK seller pays, what each is charged on, and what a typical sale leaves you with.
Fees checked 15 October 2026 against TikTok Shop’s Seller University. TikTok updates its fees from time to time, so check Seller Center for your own account.

The 9% commission
TikTok Shop’s commission for UK sellers is 9%, inclusive of VAT. It went up from 5% on 2 September 2024 (ChannelX).
What it’s charged on
According to Seller University, commission is worked out on:
net sales + customer-paid shipping + platform discount − refunds
That has three consequences:
- You pay commission on shipping. If a customer pays £2.99 to have an item posted, 9% of that £2.99 goes to TikTok.
- Discounts you fund reduce it; discounts TikTok funds don’t. A seller-funded voucher lowers the sale price and so the commission. A platform-funded discount is added back, so you’re charged as if the customer paid full price.
- Refunds reverse it. Commission on a refunded sale comes back to you.
Lower rates
TikTok says a lower rate can be available for new sellers, sellers in electronics, some beauty and personal care categories, and sellers who complete Seller Missions. Category reductions only start once your new-seller period has ended. The rate for your account is shown in Seller Center.
The 50p Shipped by Seller fee
Since 15 July 2025, orders you fulfil yourself under Shipped by Seller pay £0.50 per package, including VAT, charged when the order is delivered. Orders sent through Fulfilled by TikTok or Shipped via Platform don’t pay it, because their costs are already covered by those services.
On a low-priced item, 50p is a big share. On a £5 product it’s 10% of the price before commission.
Creator affiliate commission
When a creator sells your product in a video or LIVE, you pay them the affiliate commission rate you set. TikTok deducts it from your settlement and pays the creator. Seller University gives the formula as:
affiliate rate × (product price − seller discount − platform discount)
Unlike the platform commission, affiliate commission isn’t charged on shipping. If an order is refunded before the creator is paid, the commission comes back to you. If they’ve already been paid, it doesn’t.
Affiliate commission sits on top of the 9%, so set the rate with your margin in front of you. The TikTok Shop profit calculator shows what a sale earns at different affiliate rates.
Other costs that come out of your settlement
- Shipping labels. If you buy labels through TikTok Shop, the cost is deducted after any shipping discounts.
- Return shipping. If you’re responsible for a return, you pay its postage.
- Fulfilled by TikTok. Storage, pick and pack and packaging are charged under TikTok’s fulfilment rate card instead of the 50p fee.
- Policy deductions. TikTok can deduct amounts to cover a buyer’s losses where it decides the seller was at fault.
- Ads. Promoting products with TikTok ads is optional and billed separately.
There’s no payout fee. TikTok says it doesn’t charge to process payouts, which arrive 14 days after an order is completed, plus a day (Seller University FAQs).
TikTok Shop fees and VAT
The 9% includes VAT. TikTok issues UK sellers a commission invoice once a month, usually available in Seller Center after the 7th, with VAT at 20%. If you’re VAT-registered, that VAT is reclaimable:
| Per £100 of commissionable sales | |
|---|---|
| Commission charged | £9.00 |
| VAT included (one sixth) | £1.50 |
| Real cost to a VAT-registered seller | £7.50 |
The 50p Shipped by Seller fee also includes VAT, so the net cost is about 42p.
Affiliate commission is different. TikTok doesn’t issue an invoice for it. If a creator is VAT-registered, they must invoice you for their commission plus VAT, and without that invoice you can’t reclaim it. Our TikTok Shop accountants page explains how we handle creator VAT.
Your own sales VAT doesn’t change. If you’re VAT-registered, VAT is due on the full amount the customer paid, including shipping, whatever TikTok deducts.
Worked example: one TikTok Shop sale
A VAT-registered seller sells a £20 product (including VAT). The customer pays £2.99 shipping. A creator made the sale at 12% affiliate commission. The seller posts it themselves.
| Line | Amount |
|---|---|
| Customer pays | £22.99 |
| Platform commission (9% of £22.99) | −£2.07 |
| Affiliate commission (12% of £20) | −£2.40 |
| Shipped by Seller fee | −£0.50 |
| Payout from TikTok Shop | £18.02 |
Now the profit. The seller’s product cost is £6.00 and postage costs £3.20.
| Line | Amount |
|---|---|
| Sales excluding VAT (£22.99 ÷ 1.2) | £19.16 |
| Commission excluding VAT | −£1.72 |
| Affiliate commission (creator not VAT-registered) | −£2.40 |
| Shipped by Seller fee excluding VAT | −£0.42 |
| Product cost | −£6.00 |
| Postage | −£3.20 |
| Profit per sale | £5.42 |
Illustrative figures. Fees and the affiliate payment take £4.54 of a £19.16 sale before the product is paid for. Without the creator, the same sale makes £7.82.
How to keep more of each sale
- Price shipping deliberately. Commission applies to customer-paid shipping, so consider building postage into the price on low-value items.
- Fund promotions carefully. Platform-funded discounts don’t reduce your commission, and seller-funded ones cut your margin directly. Know which one you’re running.
- Compare fulfilment options. For small, cheap items, the 50p fee can tip the balance towards Fulfilled by TikTok or Shipped via Platform.
- Set affiliate rates product by product. A rate that works on a £40 product can wipe out the margin on an £8 one.
- Download the monthly commission invoice. Without it, you can’t reclaim the VAT inside the 9%.
- Reconcile settlements, not payouts. A payout is the net of sales, commission, affiliate fees, shipping and refunds. If it’s posted as one sales figure, your revenue, costs and VAT return will all be wrong.
