This notice explains what personal data eCounts collects when you use this website or contact us, what we do with it, and the rights you have under UK data protection law.
Who we are
eCounts is run by eCounts Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales with company number [number]. Our registered office is 58 Croxteth Drive, Rainford, St Helens WA11 8LA.
We are the controller of the personal data described in this notice. For anything about your data, email hello@ecounts.com or call 07851 482987. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office under registration number [ICO registration number].
What we collect
When you book a discovery call or send an enquiry, we collect the details you give us: your name, email address, phone number, business name, the platforms you sell on, and anything you write in your message.
When you email, phone or message us on WhatsApp, we keep the content of those conversations and your contact details.
When you become a client, we collect the information needed to provide our services and meet our legal duties. That includes identity documents for anti-money laundering checks, tax references, and your business's financial records. How we handle client data is set out in more detail in your engagement letter.
When you visit the website, our hosting provider automatically processes technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver the site and keep it secure. We do not use advertising tracking on this website.
If you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics to see how the site is used: pages viewed, how you arrived, the type of device and approximate location (country or city level), and whether you used the contact form, phone, email or WhatsApp links. Our legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time from the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page. We do not send your name, email or phone number to Google. We do not knowingly collect special category data through the website. Please do not include health or similar sensitive information in an enquiry.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for automated decision-making or profiling.
Who we share it with
We share personal data only where we need to, with:
- Netlify, which hosts this website and receives submissions from our enquiry form
- Google, which provides Google Analytics, only if you accept analytics cookies
- Our email and phone providers, and WhatsApp (Meta) if you choose to message us there
- Accounting and reconciliation software we use to provide services to clients, such as Xero, QuickBooks and A2X
- Identity verification providers, for anti-money laundering checks
- HMRC, Companies House and other authorities, when we act for you or where the law requires it
- Our professional body, regulators and insurers, where required
Our suppliers act on our instructions and must keep your data secure.
International transfers
Some of our suppliers, including our website host, process data outside the UK, for example in the United States. Where that happens, we rely on safeguards recognised under UK law, such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Addendum to standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not lead to work: up to [12 months], then deleted
- Client records: for as long as we act for you, then for the period required by tax, anti-money laundering and professional rules, generally at least six years after our engagement ends
- Website hosting logs: for the short period set by our hosting provider
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- ask us to correct data that is wrong or incomplete
- ask us to delete your data, where we are not required to keep it
- ask us to restrict how we use your data, or object to us using it on the basis of legitimate interests
- ask for data you gave us to be transferred to you or another organisation, where that applies
To use any of these rights, email hello@ecounts.com. We will reply within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, please tell us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Cookies
This website does not use cookies. Our cookie policy explains the one small item of browser storage the site does use, and what it is for.

We will update this notice if what we collect or how we use it changes, for example if we add new tools to the site. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
